Awards
The new £50m BP North Sea headquarters scheme in Aberdeen for developer Goodman has been awarded Best Bespoke Development outside Central London at the 2008 Office Development Awards, sponsored by Property Week.
In addition, the scheme also beat off other category winners to pick up the prestigious 'Best of the Best' award 2008.
Niall McGilp, Goodman's regional development director for Scotland, commented: "We are delighted that the BP building won two of the Industry's most coveted awards. This development, which is more than 207,000 sq ft, was designed to offer Grade A flexible office space to BP and this award win underlines the fact that this is a building to be proud of. This recognition is a great example of the high standards we set for all of our developments and showcases our ability to create bespoke developments that exceed our customers' expectations."
Andy Roberts, BP's project director for the acquisition of the Aberdeen office, said: "This is a fantastic achievement and is testament to the high quality of the design of the building. One of the things which is immediately apparent when you visit the building is how light and airy it feels. We've had great feedback from both our staff and visitors. We feel the development has achieved all our requirements - both in terms of the space it offers and its commercial viability in a competitive market."
We are also pleased to announce that the scheme has recently received an award from Aberdeen Civic Society in recognition of its design qualities.
